Although these castle look pretty hard to attack you'd be surprised how easy it was in reality. Find out the problems behind these castles below. There was one type of castle which had almost no flaws which you can find out about down below too.
POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES
Motte and Bailey
Wooden
There are quite a few problems with the wooden Motte and Bailey castles because the wood may rot and the wood is easy to burn which would make it easy for attackers.
Stone keep
The stone keep castle was the next step up from the Motte and Bailey because it was made for comfort as well as a sign of power. It was a permanent structure which was harder to get into but people found ways like using a battering ram to smash down the walls.
Concentric
This was the next step up from the stone keep castle as it had an extra wall for more defence, which made it much harder to attack. Just think about it... you have just got through one wall and you are really tired when you see there is another wall you need to get through.
